Stuart makes
an August date
STARTING in
August, chief executive Stuart Welling and other board members will meet staff
at a series of regular informal meetings.
The meetings will provide opportunities,
he says, "to meet with us to ask questions, discuss problems and for us to
listen to you."
They will be one of the first steps in
the trust communications policy, Listening Makes Sense. The board
approved this earlier this year.
Last month Stuart Welling also launched
an open letter staff on the Groupvine global e-mail.
In this he acknowledges the problems
caused by the introduction of PAS, the new patient administration system.
He says: "The system has a massive
impact across the trust and some initial problems were inevitable.
"But we shouldn’t lose sight of
the fact tht the new PAS will deliver major benefits for patients and staff in
the future."
In his letter, Stuart goes out of his
way to assure staff that he is personally very grateful for their efforts to
secure a positive future for the trust.
"Perhaps we don’t say thank you
enough, but you have my assurance that your efforts do not go unrecognised."
Regarding the new star ratings (due to
appear while we are in print), he says that however many are awarded, "they
will not be enough to truly reflect all your efforts."
And he confirms his determination aim, reported exclusively in the Bulletin
earlier this year, to aim for 3 star trust status by 2005.
