PAS: 'More
problems than anticipated'
P ROBLEMS experienced
when the new patient administration system went live last month were greater
than expected, says Ann Merricks.
Writing in Groupvine,
the new staff global e-mail, the director of performance improvement, apologised
to staff for the "added burdens they faced during the difficult
implementation period."
She also paid a tribute to
everyone who has worked hard to get the system up and running.
She said both outdated systems
used by the former trusts had to be replaced following integration last year.
This involved training 1,000
staff and will save nearly £2 million in the next seven years.
A number of teething problems
included access to the system and the printers. These were quickly resolved
where possible, she said.
"The new system will ultimately make life
easier for patients and staff (who, it is planned, will find the new system
quicker and more accurate)."
