Alex dietitians tackle child obesity GROWING alarm about increasing obesity in children led to a campaign to encourage them to eat healthily and become physically active. Eat 2b Fit was launched last month by the British Dietetic Association (BDA), Kellogg’s and Sainsburys. Brighton dietitians played their part with a display in the entrance to the children’s hospital. They also visited the fruit and veg section in Brighton Marina Asda offering advice and ideas to families shopping there and their children. Obesity in children is now considered a public health priority. It is believed it will lead to a risk of serious health problems in later life. These could include high blood pressure, diabetes and heart disease. The month long Eat 2b Fit campaign is aimed specifically at schoolchildren aged 7 to 11 years.
