All the fun of the festival

Home grown talent ... The Show Ponies, featuring D-String on guitar, (aka RSCH porter Dunstan Belcher), played at this year’s Summer Festival at the Princess Royal Hospital. Alongside him are Dominic Lightning, The Reverend and T-Bone.

Time for a picnic … What better way to spend a summer evening, listening to music in the open air with friends. This group actually included three committee members of the Princess Royal League of Hospital Friends: Helga Race and Pam Clink with their husbands and Valerie Shrod.

Highlight of the concert on Friday evening was a performance by renowned bassist Herbie Flowers (above) and his friends, which left the large appreciative audience calling for more. Saturday at the Summer Festival was very much a family day … especially for children. Juggler and unicyclist John Teasdale is pictured above entertaining the youngsters in the Children’s Tent.

Guess the Weight of the Bike … Woody, one of the Invisible Men performing at the Summer Festival on Saturday afternoon, tries to guess the weight of the £800 mountain bike donated by Coca Cola and Medirest. It was won jointly by Beth Watson and her friend. Beth, whose father Ray is an electrician at PRH, was carrying her young baby, Lily. They used Lily’s weight to help assess the weight of the bike at 18.6 kilos, the nearest to the actual weight of 18.5 kilos.

Festival fun in the Sun

The weekend kicked off on Friday with a human table football competition ...
