Clean sweep for Pharmacy at Bed Push

Princess Royal pharmacists celebrate their Bed Push fancy dress success. They shared joint first place with their colleagues from the Sussex County and were presented with their prize by local TV celebrity and Brighton Hospitals Friends president Dora Bryan. More pictures

Princess Royal swept the board at the revived Bed Push and Fancy dress competition that opened last month’s Kemp Town Community Carnival.

Princess Royal’s South Pacific and the County’s Sound of Music shared the honours for first place in the Music and Song themed fancy dress.

The fourteen hospital and local community teams then competed in timed races along St George’s Road from Portland Place to the Co-op and back. Eight of the teams completed the course in under a minute.

They qualified for the quarter final and were later whittled down to two teams, RSCH Pharmacy and BSUH Finance who battled for the honours in the final.

Finance who had earlier posted the fastest time looked favourites to win. But Pharmacy, who had lost 1½ seconds in each of the two preceding races, evidently had kept something in reserve and were first past the winning post.

Other trust teams taking part included Renal, RSCH Physios, Hurstwood Park, SSD and the Sussex Cancer Centre.

The City Synergie team of blind and partially sighted people’s Three Blind Mice entry was placed
second in the fancy dress.

Trust director Lee Soden, who compered the event, promised the large crowd of spectators that it would be held annually in future.

Pretty In Pink: The Boneshakers from RSCH Physiotherapy as you’ve never seen them before (and probably never will again).
