Beating the bugs in Intensive Care

Speakers and committee members at the Beating the Bugs study day included Deborah Dawson (left), Cathy Dalley, Jane Roe, Linda Bower, Denise Hinge, Sue Singh, Catherine Plowright, Shona Perkins, Emma Long, Tim Collins and Dennis Nong.

Participants from all over the South of England converged on the Audrey Emerton Centre in May to learn more about the problem of managing infection in intensive care.

Entitled ‘Beating the Bugs,’ the critical care study day, was run by the British Association of Critical Care Nurses (BACCN).

Denise Hinge, BSUH nurse consultant in critical care, a BCCN committee member, helped organise the successful event that was opened by assistant nursing director Jane Butler.

The speakers included local intensivists Dr Martin Street and Dr Steve Drage and a previous BSUH staff member, Deborah Dawson, now a nurse consultant at St Georges Hospital.
